Starting in May, Growing Lots Urban Farm will be hosting bi-weekly Community Work Days.. Us farmers here over at Growing Lots are seeking to expand our efforts into a greater sense of community support. And as we are consistently getting requests from friends and neighbors to come and dig in the dirt, we thought it was about time to do just that!
Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, come work side by side with your favorite urban farmers (then again, how could you not love every urban farmer?) from 9 am to 12 noon. Come for the morning, or for an hour, help pull some weeds, build trellising, put up a high tunnel... you name it, we will be doing it!!
The first Community Work Day will be May 5th, 2012 (again, from 9 am to 12 noon).
We have two farm sites one block from each other, but we will always plan to meet at our lot at the corner of 24th St / Minnehaha Ave (right next door to Coastal Seafood). Great street parking is available (so please don't use the Coastal Seafood parking lot, we love our neighbors!!)..
Any questions? Feel free to drop us a line!! And don't hesitate to contact us regarding what tools to bring.. but always bring a pair of gloves, some water, sun screen and bug spray if you so choose.. We will always try to have a bit on hand for those who don't remember.
We look forward to growing with you!!
Farmers Stefan and Mike
